Debora could feel that something was wrong with her body. She knows that things started to change along with the attenuated menstrual cycle. In course of time, she encountered that she is having rapid mood swings, hot flushes at night and gradual development of insomnia. It makes her anxious about the impact on her professional life. Finally, she decided to find a way out. She consulted a gynecologist and came to know about the hormonal therapy (HT). The story of Debora is prevailing in every corner of our society. Usually, such predicaments are visible in women of ages around 45 to 55 with deterring hormonal levels. Undoubtedly, the post- menopausal changes lead to one of the significant women health problems which goes unnoticed until it erupts to create bigger obstacle in life.

The cause of such changes can also result in an early stage for various purposes such as surgery of the uterus technically known as the hysterectomy, in which the reproductive organs such as ovaries are removed. Such women surgery at an earlier stage can abruptly lead to ineluctable problems with the lack of female hormones in the body. Furthermore, these changes can cause bone thinning effects such as osteoporosis, the disease occurs as result of gradual reduction of bone density. It is also a leading cause of coronary heart disease, Parkinson like symptoms and even earlier death.

The earlier the problem is detected, the better it can be combated. The conditions of post- menopausal or premenopausal (earlier than menopause) can be treated with   hormonal replacement therapy (HRT) which is strictly suggested by the doctors to prevent further women problems. It is very important for any women to know about any therapy before, she decides to avail the treatment and therefore, the components of hormonal therapy must be known. There are two female hormones which prominently regulates the menstrual cycle. They are estrogen and progesterone. The hormonal therapies are provided as the following regimen:   1) It can be provided as continuous therapy where both the estrogen and progesterone are combined.

2) It can provide as cyclic and sequential with suggested Estrogen being given every day.
3) Progesterone is added for 10-14 days out of every week.

The medicines are available in various dosage forms. The systemic hormonal therapies are provided in form of pills, skin patches, gel, creams, or spray forms. On the other hand, there are vaginal products available in low dosage forms such as creams, tablets and as rings ( Intrauterine device, IUD) which are sometimes implanted inside uterus. Obviously, it is always preferable to consult any gynecologist before any health regimen is adapted.

The women’s health is one of the primary concerns in the health sector today as any neglectfulness of it has enormous impact over the quality of life as a whole. Therefore, it must be dealt with utmost alertness.
